Recently, I tried reading two works: after finishing a TV series, I enthusiastically read a few pages of "Sword Snow Stride", and recently picked up "Big Breasts and Wide Hips", but I found it difficult to get into both of them.

I discovered that I have developed a reading laziness syndrome. I diagnosed myself based on the two books I finished reading recently, "Golden Thumb" and "Bio Nanny". One common characteristic of these two books is that they spend a lot of effort on scene descriptions, making it difficult for me to delve into the story. In "Sword Snow Stride", the character descriptions, and in "Big Breasts and Wide Hips", the descriptions of barley fields and large stallions, pose a challenge for me to immerse myself in the story. On the other hand, the two fairy tales by Zheng Yuanjie that I read smoothly focus more on the story itself, with scenes that are easy to imagine in daily life. The author devotes more attention to the characters' inner activities, adding more interest, without hindering my immersion in the story.

With this in mind, it seems that my need for reading is more about the story itself rather than the language or writing style. Upon further reflection, this is no different from watching dramas or browsing the video section on Bilibili. I just want to hear a story and I'm too lazy to chew on words.

It wasn't until I read "I heard the panting sound coming from the horse's nostrils and smelled the sour smell of horse sweat" that I realized I still appreciate vivid descriptions. These descriptions that fail to capture my interest are actually an important component of nourishment in reading, although they may require a bit more effort to absorb.

One difference between reading and watching dramas is that in reading, I can reconstruct the author's imagination on my own, of course, provided that my brain consumes a bit more energy.
